CRI-26 Color Rendering Improvement Filter

CRI-26 is a colour-rendering (CRI/TLCI) filter that warms and smooths spiky LED/HMI spectra—reducing harsh deep-blue and yellow-green energy while preserving a cyan window and strong long-red for higher CRI/TLCI, better R9, and more natural skin tones.

  • Function: Warming/smoothing CRI filter; suppresses deep-blue & yellow-green, preserves cyan & long-red
  • Deep-blue control: ~88–92 % @ 390–410 nm → deep notch ~10–12 % T @ 445–460 nm
  • Cyan window: Narrow high pass ~90–92 % T @ 490–505 nm
  • Yellow-green shaping: Broad trough 520–620 nm; minimum ~18–20 % T @ 580–600 nm
  • Long-red throughput: Steep rise to ~93–95 % by 690–740 nm; holds ~92–94 % toward 780 nm
  • Construction & format: Durable dielectric on Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T, or soda-lime • 5–450 mm • 0.21–3.8 mm • options: rear-AR & slight wedge

CRI-26 raises CRI/TLCI and R9 by moderating the blue spike and the yellow-green band while maintaining cyan detail and long-red fidelity. Smooth, broad features avoid magenta/green casts and banding, keeping colour balance predictable across cameras and scenes.

Typical applications • Cinema/TV lighting (higher TLCI/CRI; better skin tones) • Photography & events (warmer, flattering output) • Retail/museum/hospitality (reduced green cast; natural reds) • Architectural & display (premium colour from standard luminaires) • Machine vision (balanced channels where red features matter).

Description

CRI-26 is a colour-rendering improvement (CRI) filter that warms and smooths spiky LED/HMI spectra by suppressing deep blue and broad yellow-green while preserving a cyan window and strong long-red. Transmission starts high (~88–92% at ~390–410 nm), dips into a deep blue notch near ~445–460 nm (~10–12% T), surges to a narrow cyan peak of ~90–92% around ~490–505 nm, then falls into a broad trough across ~520–620 nm with a minimum of ~18–20% near ~580–600 nm. It climbs steeply through the red to ~93–95% by ~690–740 nm and holds ~92–94% toward ~780 nm.

Key advantages

  • Raise CRI/TLCI and R9 — moderates the ~450 nm spike and the ~520–620 nm band while keeping strong long-red for natural skin, wood, food, and fabrics.

  • Dual-notch, dual-pass profile — deep attenuation at ~450 nm and ~580–600 nm with high throughput in cyan (~490–505 nm) and long-red (>~690 nm).

  • Colour-temperature tuning — shifts overly cool sources toward neutral/warm without magenta/green casts.

  • Predictable shaping — smooth slopes and broad features avoid banding and preserve colour balance.

  • Built for production — durable dielectric stack for sets, stages, and architectural fixtures; optional rear-surface AR and slight wedge to suppress ghosts.

  • Custom formats — Borofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp duty to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Sizes 5–450 mm.

Typical applications

  • Cinema/TV lighting — lift TLCI/CRI and skin-tone accuracy with less in-camera correction.

  • Photography & events — warmer, more flattering faces and textiles under LED or HMI.

  • Retail, museum & hospitality — reduce green cast and reveal natural reds in merchandise and art.

  • Architectural & display — refine off-the-shelf luminaires for premium colour.

  • Machine vision — balance channels where red features matter and blue/green glare is problematic.
