CRI-8-S7 is a colour-rendering improvement (CRI) filter that removes harsh blue and yellow-green energy from common LED/arc sources to reveal richer reds and more natural skin tones. The spectrum shows a deep blue notch near ~445–455 nm (~12–15% T), a broad yellow-green dip across ~520–570 nm (~20–25% T), and high throughput in the long-red—about 90–95% T from ~660–740 nm, easing to ~65% by ~780 nm. A narrow high spot around ~490–505 nm (≈90% T) preserves blue-cyan detail without the typical LED spike.
Key advantages
-
Raise CRI/TLCI and R9 — moderates ~450 nm and ~520–570 nm spike regions while emphasising long-red for truer skin, wood, food, and fabrics.
-
Warm CCT, smoother SPD — shifts overly cool spectra toward neutral/warm and evens out metameric gaps.
-
High red throughput — ~90–95% T through ~660–740 nm maintains deep-red fidelity and saturation.
-
Predictable shaping — well-placed notches with smooth slopes avoid magenta/green casts and banding.
-
Built for production — durable dielectric stack for set, stage, and architectural fixtures; optional rear-surface AR and slight wedge to suppress ghosts.
-
Custom formats — Borofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp duty to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Sizes 5–450 mm.
Typical applications
-
Cinema/TV lighting — lift TLCI/CRI and skin-tone accuracy without heavy post or camera filtration.
-
Photography & events — warmer, more flattering faces and textiles under LED or HMI.
-
Retail, museum & hospitality — natural reds and reduced green cast for merchandise, art, and food.
-
Architectural & display — refine off-the-shelf luminaires for premium colour.
-
Machine vision — tame blue/green glare and balance channels for stable classification.
