CTB-008 is a blue-balancing (CTB) broadband filter that lifts the blue end of the spectrum while gently trimming mid-band and red. Transmission rises from ~70% at ~390 nm to a peak of ~84–86% around 430–460 nm, then settles to a smooth ~64–66% across ~540–720 nm with a slight uptick to ~66–68% by ~780 nm. The effect is a clean, controlled cool-tone shift with modest overall loss (mid-band ≈65% T).
Key advantages
-
Blue-weighted transmission — emphasises 430–470 nm for a cooler white point when mixing or correcting sources.
-
Smooth, low-ripple curve — predictable colourimetry without banding or harsh spectral holes.
-
Moderate attenuation — ~65% T mid-band (~0.18 OD) preserves output while shaping the spectrum.
-
Good colour fidelity — broad, gently sloped profile avoids strong green/magenta tints.
-
Built to last — durable optical coating/options for demanding field, stage, and lab use.
-
Custom formats — Borofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp duty to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Sizes from 5–450 mm; optional rear-surface AR and slight wedge to suppress ghosts.
Typical applications
-
Lighting colour correction — cool tungsten/halogen output toward daylight; balance mixed LED/ambient scenes.
-
Cameras & cinema — pre-filter for consistent white balance without heavy in-camera correction.
-
Architectural & display lighting — crisper whites in retail, museums, and exhibits.
-
Machine vision & inspection — boost contrast in blue-weighted features or fluorescents while keeping broadband illumination.
-
Projectors & light engines — gentle spectral shaping with minimal brightness penalty.
