CTB-011 is a blue-balancing (CTB) broadband filter with a pronounced blue spike. Transmission rises from ~12% at ~380 nm to ~45–50% near 420 nm, peaks at ~88–90% around 455–460 nm, falls to ~18–22% across ~500–620 nm, then climbs through the red to ~70–74% by ~780 nm. The effect is a strong, predictable cool-tone correction with significant mid-band trimming (~0.7 OD around 520–600 nm).
Key advantages
-
Aggressive blue boost — peaks ~88–90% at 455–460 nm to cool warm sources decisively.
-
Mid-band trimming — ~18–22% T from ~500–620 nm reduces yellow/amber without introducing a magenta cast.
-
Red recovery — rising tail delivers ~70–74% T by ~780 nm to keep deep-red content present.
-
Shaped, predictable profile — controlled blue spike with smooth long-wavelength rise for repeatable colorimetry.
-
Built to last — durable optical coating suitable for stage, field, and lab use.
-
Custom formats — Borofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp duty to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Sizes 5–450 mm; optional rear-surface AR and slight wedge to suppress ghosts.
Typical applications
-
Lighting colour correction — push tungsten/halogen or warm LED far toward daylight/overcast looks.
-
Cameras & cinema — create cool/steel palettes or reduce blue-channel gain for cleaner noise performance.
-
Architectural & display lighting — crisp, high-contrast white appearance in retail and exhibits.
-
Machine vision & inspection — emphasise blue features/fluorescence while suppressing yellow/orange background.
-
Projectors & light engines — spectral shaping at the source with a controlled brightness trade-off.
