LEE210 Neutral Density (ND) Filter

0.7-OD neutral-density glass: a flat 20 – 22 % T from 400 – 780 nm—Lee 210 look in a heat-proof optic for two-stop dimming with zero colour shift.

  • Blue end: ≈ 20 % T @ 400 nm (spectrally flat)
  • Red end: ≈ 20 % T @ 780 nm (±1 % variation)
  • Optical density: 0.69 – 0.72 OD (≈ 2-stop cut)
  • Colour shift: < ±1 % across 400 – 700 nm
  • Construction: Ion-assisted hard-oxide; 5 – 450 mm, 0.21 – 3.8 mm thick
  • Custom options: AOI tuning, edge finishing, rush prototypes

LEE210-glass is a deep neutral-density attenuator engineered to replicate the look of Lee’s 210 gel while offering the longevity of an all-glass, hard-oxide optic. Transmission holds a uniform 20 – 22 % across the visible spectrum, yielding an optical density near 0.7 OD (roughly a two-stop reduction) with almost no hue bias—whites stay white and saturated colours stay true.

The filter shrugs off high-power HMIs, COB LEDs, and tungsten halogens, and resists solvents or scratches during daily wipe-downs—far beyond the limits of polyester or polycarbonate alternatives. KUPO can supply parts on Borofloat®, soda-lime, Schott D263 T, or Corning Eagle XG glass cut to any outline from 5 mm chips to 450 mm plates in thicknesses of 0.21 – 3.8 mm. Prototypes typically ship in about two weeks.

Typical uses: taming bright stage or architectural fixtures, balancing mixed lamp types on broadcast sets, exposure control for cameras without in-lens NDs, predictable beam attenuation on laser/sensor benches, and intensity tweaks in spectroscopy or fluorescence rigs where spectral neutrality is critical.

Description

LEE210-glass is a deep neutral-density attenuator that mirrors the look of Lee’s 210 gel while delivering the robustness of hard-coated glass. Transmission hovers around 20 % from 400 nm to 780 nm, varying by less than ±1 %, so every colour is dimmed evenly without introducing a cast. The optical density is therefore ~0.7 (a two-stop cut), giving designers tighter control over beam intensity, exposure or detector input without sacrificing colour fidelity.

Key advantages

  • Spectrally flat ND (~0.7 OD) – Consistent 20 - 22 % T across the visible spectrum for true colour dimming.

  • Accurate Lee 210 match – Lets crews interchange gel and glass with zero look shift.

  • Heat-proof, solvent-proof glass – Hard oxide coatings shrug off high-power LEDs, HMIs and frequent cleaning.

  • No polarisation artefacts – Maintains beam shape and prevents glare unlike some laminated film NDs.

  • Custom formats – Discs, squares or complex shapes up to 450 mm, 0.21 – 3.8 mm thick, on Borofloat®, soda-lime, D263 T or Corning Eagle XG glass.

Typical applications

  • Stage & architectural fixtures – Tame output from bright sources without colour shift or disposable gels.

  • Cinema & still-photo cameras – Achieve correct exposure and depth-of-field when in-lens NDs aren’t available.

  • Broadcast lighting – Balance mixed lamp types to a common stop while keeping white point steady.

  • Laser & sensor test benches – Provide predictable attenuation for detector calibration and safety.

  • Spectroscopy & fluorescence setups – Introduce uniform attenuation where spectral accuracy is critical.
