BMS-002 Beam Splitter

BMS-002 is a UV-trimmed, colour-neutral VIS beamsplitter (≈T45/R55). It comes up quickly at the blue edge, then holds ~44–48 % T from 400–700 nm, finishing with a gentle red lift to ~51–53 % by ~800 nm—yielding two clean paths with a slight reflect-side brightness advantage.

  • Passband: 400 – 700 nm (VIS), ~44–48 % T; gentle rise to ~51–53 % by ~800 nm
  • VIS split ratio: ~44–48 % T / ~52–56 % R (reflect-biased, ≈T45/R55)
  • UV behaviour: Strong suppression < ~360–380 nm; steep blue-edge turn-on
  • Spectral quality: Low ripple; neutral colour for easy calibration & thresholds
  • Construction: Hard dielectric stack on Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T, or soda-lime (to ~450 °C; ≤150 °C for soda-lime)
  • Custom sizes: 5 – 450 mm • 0.21 – 3.8 mm; rear-surface AR & slight wedge options

The reflect-biased, stable split of BMS-002 keeps the primary (reflected) path bright with minimal re-balance, while the low-ripple spectrum and neutral colour simplify radiometric calibration in taps, pick-offs, and dual-sensor rigs. A steep UV cutoff reduces fluorescence and sensor haze, and the mild red tilt above ~700 nm boosts transmit-side energy for photodiode feedback without tinting mid-band colour.

Typical applications • Machine-vision taps (constant-ratio sampling while preserving the main path) • Optical viewfinders, director’s feeds & dual-sensor capture • Projector/light-engine power & colour feedback with controlled heat load • Microscopy/biomedical epi-illumination pick-offs • Interferometers & beam diagnostics needing stable splits.

Typical spectral behaviour (T-path) — 400–700 nm: ~44–48 % T (flat, low ripple) • 700–800 nm: smooth rise to ~51–53 % T • < ~360–380 nm: strong UV suppression.

Description

BMS-002 is a UV-trimmed, colour-neutral VIS beamsplitter (≈ T45/R55). It comes up quickly at the blue edge, then holds a steady ~44–48% transmission from 400–700 nm, finishing with a gentle red lift to ~51–53% T by ~800 nm. The split stays neutral and low-ripple, giving you two clean paths with a slight reflect-side brightness advantage.

Key advantages

  • Reflect-biased, stable ratio~T44–48 / R52–56 across the visible keeps the primary (reflected) path bright with minimal rebalance.

  • Steep UV cutoff – rapid turn-on around ~360–380 nm trims deep-UV to reduce fluorescence and sensor haze.

  • Low-ripple, neutral colour – smooth spectrum simplifies radiometric calibration and machine-vision thresholds.

  • Helpful red tilt – mild rise above ~700 nm boosts transmit-side energy for photodiode taps without tinting mid-band colour.

  • Rugged dielectric stack – abrasion and humidity resistant for stage, field, and lab environments.

  • Made to fitBorofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for duty up to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Custom-cut 5–450 mm with optional rear-surface AR and slight wedge to suppress ghosts.

Typical applications

  • Machine-vision taps – constant-ratio sampling while preserving the main path.

  • Cameras & cinema – optical viewfinders, director’s feeds, dual-sensor capture.

  • Projectors & light engines – power/colour feedback with controlled heat load.

  • Microscopy & biomedical – epi-illumination pick-offs with neutral colour in both paths.

  • Metrology & alignment – stable splits for interferometers and beam diagnostics.

Typical spectral behaviour (T-path)
400–700 nm: ~44–48% T (flat, low ripple) · 700–800 nm: smooth rise to ~51–53% T · <~360–380 nm: strong UV suppression.
