HM-635 Hot Mirror & UV-IR Cut Filter

HM-635 is a visible-pass, IR-blocking hot mirror: ~92–95 % T from ~420–620 nm, a steep long-wave cut at ~635–655 nm, and near-baseline ~0–1 % T through ~700–1000 nm. Beyond ~1.0 µm it opens defined SWIR windows (~1.03–1.08 & ~1.10–1.16 µm) rising toward ~1.2 µm (up to ~90 % T). UV <~380 nm is strongly attenuated.

  • VIS window: ~92–95 % T, 420–620 nm (high, flat)
  • IR edge: Sharp 10→90 % transition at ~635–655 nm
  • NIR suppression: ~0–1 % T from ~700–1000 nm
  • SWIR windows >1.0 µm: Peaks ~1.03–1.08 & ~1.10–1.16 µm; rise toward ~1.2 µm (to ~90 % T)
  • UV behaviour: Strong attenuation below ~380 nm
  • Durability & format: Hard dielectric; Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T, or soda-lime; 5–450 mm • 0.21–3.8 mm; rear-AR & slight wedge options (to ~450 °C; ≤150 °C for soda-lime)

HM-635 preserves visible luminance and neutral colour while shunting first-band NIR that causes haze and heat. The intentional SWIR windows above ~1.0 µm enable monitoring or sensing paths; pair with a dedicated SWIR blocker if ultra-low transmission is required in those bands.

Typical applications • Digital & film cameras (trim NIR to ~1.0 µm) • Projectors & light engines (reflect heat-carrying NIR) • Machine vision & human-viewing optics (true-colour to Si sensors) • AR/HUD combiners (bright imagery, managed thermal load) • Microscopy & biomedical illumination (cool, shadow-free white).

Description

HM-635 is a visible-pass, IR-blocking hot mirror. It maintains ~92–95% transmittance from roughly 420–620 nm, then makes a steep long-wave cut near ~635–655 nm. Through the first NIR band (~700–1000 nm) transmission stays near the baseline (≈0–1% T typical). Beyond ~1.0 μm the coating opens defined SWIR windows—peaks near ~1.03–1.08 μm and ~1.10–1.16 μm, rising again toward ~1.2 μm (up to ~90% T). UV below ~380 nm is strongly attenuated.

Key advantages

  • High, flat VIS window — ~92–95% T from 420–620 nm preserves colour fidelity and luminance.

  • Sharp ~635–655 nm edge — fast 10-to-90% transition cleanly separates visible and the first NIR band.

  • NIR suppression to ~1.0 μm — near-baseline %T (~0–1% typical) from ~700–1000 nm reduces haze and heat.

  • Defined SWIR windows — intentional passbands above ~1.0 μm (around 1.05 μm and 1.12 μm, rising toward 1.2 μm); add secondary blocking if very low SWIR is required.

  • UV moderation — steep short-wave cutoff (<~380 nm) helps limit fluorescence and sensor noise.

  • Durable dielectric stack — abrasion and humidity resistant for stage, field, and lab use.

  • Flexible glass choices — Borofloat®, Eagle XG, or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp duty to ~450 °C; soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Custom sizes 5–450 mm; rear-surface AR and slight wedge available to suppress ghosts.

Typical applications

  • Digital & film cameras — trim NIR contamination to ~1.0 μm while keeping white balance neutral.

  • Projectors & light engines — reflect heat-carrying NIR away from phosphor wheels and LCD engines.

  • Machine vision & human-viewing optics — pass true-colour images to Si sensors while reducing out-of-band light.

  • AR/HUD combiners — bright imagery with managed thermal load in compact waveguides.

  • Microscopy & biomedical illumination — deliver cool, shadow-free white light to instruments.
