Description

AR2S-UVB-01 is a double-side anti-reflection coating purpose-built for the ultraviolet-B through violet range, spanning 370 nm to 440 nm. Average transmission across this band exceeds 96 %, peaking at 97.2 % near 411 nm. The coating delivers T > 95 % from 388 nm to 471 nm, placing its strongest performance exactly where UVB and violet sources emit. Below 370 nm, transmission drops sharply, effectively limiting throughput to the target band while out-of-band visible transmission remains moderate (> 80 % beyond 500 nm), offering flexibility if broadband visible light must also pass.

Key Advantages

  • Tavg > 96 % across 370-440 nm - maximizes photon throughput for UV-LED, mercury-line (365 nm, 405 nm), and violet-laser sources.
  • Peak transmission of 97.2 % at 411 nm - places best performance at the heart of the violet band, ideal for 405 nm laser diode and LED systems.
  • Sharp UV cut-on - transmission rises from < 1 % at 300 nm to > 90 % by 361 nm, ensuring minimal deep-UV leakage.
  • Hard-oxide durability - ion-assisted coating withstands the photochemical stress of UV exposure as well as heat, humidity, and solvents.
  • Custom formats available - round, square, or free-form blanks from 5 mm to 450 mm, thickness 0.21-3.8 mm, on Borofloat®, soda-lime, Schott D263 T, or Corning Eagle XG substrates.

Typical Applications

  • UV fluorescence excitation - maximizes delivery of 365-405 nm excitation light to samples while resisting photodegradation from prolonged UV exposure.
  • UV curing and bonding - reduces optical losses in UV-LED curing systems, improving dose uniformity and energy efficiency.
  • Photolithography and semiconductor inspection - provides high-throughput UV windows for 365 nm (i-line) and 405 nm (h-line) exposure and metrology tools.
  • Forensic and document examination - transmits the violet and near-UV wavelengths used to reveal latent prints, security features, and altered documents.
  • Dermatology and phototherapy - delivers UVB wavelengths (370-440 nm) efficiently through optical windows in narrowband phototherapy devices.
