BBP-525 Bandpass Filter

BBP-525 delivers a bright green window (~93–95 % T from ~480–570 nm) with low leakage across VIS–NIR—ideal for high-contrast green imaging and illumination.

  • Main passband (T): ~93–95 % T @ 480 – 570 nm
  • Cut-on / cut-off: Steep edges near ~470 nm and ~590 nm
  • Out-of-band (VIS–NIR): Typically low, with small ripples (often 1–5 %, occasional 5–12 % in 650–1100 nm)
  • SWIR window: ~90–95 % T @ 1180 – 1210 nm (optional extra blocking)
  • Ghost control: Optional rear AR and slight wedge available
  • Substrates: Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T (≤ 450 °C), soda-lime (≤ 150 °C)
  • Size / thickness: 5 – 450 mm • 0.21 – 3.8 mm (custom cut & dicing)

BBP-525 is a green visible bandpass centred near 525 nm, delivering ~93–95 % transmission across a broad ~480–570 nm window with steep edges for clean separation from neighbouring colours. Outside the passband, transmission stays low across most of the visible and near-IR, with only small ripple features (typically low single digits, and occasionally up to ~5–12 % in the 650–1100 nm region depending on configuration).

Note for SWIR-sensitive detectors: a strong secondary window can appear near ~1180–1210 nm and reach ~90–95 % transmission. If your sensor responds beyond 1.1 µm, KUPO can add an additional blocking stack to suppress this SWIR band fully.

Typical uses: green LED inspection lighting, microscopy colour-channel separation, green-band fluorescence imaging, reflectance/absorption photometry around 525 nm, and stray-light control in optical instruments. KUPO supplies rear-surface AR, slight wedge, and rapid custom cutting—from small test chips to 450 mm plates—on high-temperature glass (Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T) or economical soda-lime.

Description

The BBP-525 is a broad-aperture visible filter centered in the green region with a 99 nm FWHM passband (475-574 nm). Peak transmission reaches 94.7 %. This expansive green pass admits both blue and yellow wavelengths, making it ideal for color imaging where red separation is less critical. An intentional 21.8 % SWIR transparency window adds a second spectral dimension for applications combining visible and thermal imaging.

Key Advantages

  • Broad green-yellow passband – 99 nm FWHM captures the full green spectrum from blue-green through yellow for vivid color imaging
  • Dual-window transparency – 21.8 % SWIR transmission enables combined visible-thermal sensing in a single optical path
  • Hard-oxide dichroic coating – Ion-assisted multilayer ensures long-term spectral stability under environmental and thermal cycling
  • Flexible custom formats – Round, square, and free-form blanks from 5 mm to 450 mm; thickness 0.21-3.8 mm available
  • Substrate variety – Borofloat, soda-lime, Schott D263 T, and Corning Eagle XG substrates accommodate diverse designs

Typical Applications

  • Machine vision color detection – Green-channel imaging in industrial color sorting and quality assurance systems
  • Scientific spectroscopy – Chlorophyll and green-emitting fluorophore analysis in biomedical research
  • Botanical and agricultural – Plant health monitoring and chlorophyll content assessment using green wavelengths
  • Thermal-visible fusion – Combined green visible and SWIR thermal imaging for enhanced scene understanding
  • Emerging display technology – Green-channel component in advanced projectors and spatial computing systems
