BBP-585 Bandpass Filter

BBP-585 isolates the amber/yellow channel with ~92–94 % transmission in the ~575–605 nm band and near-baseline leakage across the rest of the visible.

  • Main passband (T): ~92–94 % T @ 575 – 605 nm
  • Cut-on / cut-off: Steep edges around the ~570 nm and ~610 nm regions
  • Out-of-band (VIS): ~0–2 % T across ~410 – 800 nm
  • UV/blue feature: ~5–20 % T @ 380 – 410 nm (optional extra blocking)
  • Ghost control: Optional rear AR and slight wedge available
  • Substrates: Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T (≤ 450 °C), soda-lime (≤ 150 °C)
  • Size / thickness: 5 – 450 mm • 0.21 – 3.8 mm (custom cut & dicing)

BBP-585 is a narrow visible bandpass centred near 585 nm, delivering ~92–94 % peak transmission across ~575–605 nm with steep edges for clean spectral separation. Outside the main window, transmission stays near baseline (~0–2 %) across most of the visible spectrum (~410–800 nm), reducing background and improving signal-to-noise under mixed illumination.

Note: the spectrum may show a small secondary feature in the near-UV/blue around ~380–410 nm (typically ~5–20 % transmission). If your source or detector is sensitive there, KUPO can add an additional blocking stack to suppress that band.

Typical uses: 585 nm LED illumination for inspection, yellow emission isolation in fluorescence/bio-imaging, reflectance/absorption photometry, spectral channel selection in optical instruments, and stable 585 nm reference bands for calibration and detector testing. KUPO supplies rear-surface AR, slight wedge, and rapid custom cutting—from small test chips to 450 mm plates— on high-temperature glass (Borofloat®, Eagle XG, D263 T) or economical soda-lime.

Description

BBP-585 is a visible bandpass filter centred around 585 nm. It delivers a narrow, high transmission peak of about ~92–94% in the ~575–605 nm region, with steep edges that quickly suppress out-of-band light. Outside the main passband, transmission stays near the baseline (generally ~0–2% across most of ~410–800 nm). The spectrum shows a small secondary transmission feature in the near-UV/blue around ~380–410 nm (peaking roughly ~5–20% T), which is worth noting if your source or detector is sensitive there.

Key advantages

  • High 585 nm throughput: ~92–94% T at the main passband peak for efficient amber/yellow LED and laser use.

  • Narrow band selection: Tight spectral window around ~585 nm improves contrast by rejecting neighbouring wavelengths.

  • Low out-of-band leakage: Near-baseline transmission across most of the visible reduces background and improves signal-to-noise.

  • Secondary band awareness: A smaller feature appears around ~380–410 nm; extra blocking can be added if required.

  • Production-ready build: Durable dielectric coating; optional rear-surface anti-reflection and slight wedge available to suppress ghosts/flare.

  • Custom formats: Borofloat®, Eagle XG or D263 T (0.21–3.8 mm) for high-temp use to ~450 °C; economical soda-lime for ≤150 °C. Custom sizes 5–450 mm.

Typical applications

  • 585 nm LED illumination: Improve contrast for machine vision and inspection in the amber band.

  • Fluorescence and bio-imaging: Isolate yellow emission bands while suppressing excitation and ambient spill.

  • Photometry and sensing: Clean spectral channel for reflectance/absorption measurements around 585 nm.

  • Optical instruments: Spectral channel selection and stray-light control in multi-spectral systems.

  • Colour separation and calibration: Stable 585 nm reference band for imaging and detector testing.
